Delete Your Account

Last updated: September 5, 2026

You can delete your ChessReady account yourself, at any time, from inside the app. This page explains where that control is, exactly what deleting removes, what we are required to keep, and what to do if you can no longer sign in.

1. Delete your account from the app

The control is in your profile. It works the same way on the web and in the iOS and Android apps.

  1. 1.Sign in to your account.
  2. 2.Open Profile from the main navigation.
  3. 3.Scroll to the Danger Zone at the bottom of the page.
  4. 4.Select Delete account.
  5. 5.Read the confirmation and select Delete account again.

The deletion runs immediately. You are signed out, and the account and its data are gone. There is no recovery window and no undo — we cannot restore a deleted account, so export anything you want to keep before you start.

2. What deleting removes

Deleting your account removes all of the following:

  • •Account and profile: Your email address, your password, and your profile details — rating, timezone, daily goal, board theme, and sound and haptic settings.
  • •Connected chess accounts: Your linked Lichess and Chess.com usernames, and the access tokens behind those connections.
  • •Repertoires: Every repertoire you built, every line and position inside it, and any lines you excluded from it.
  • •Games: Every game you imported or synced, move by move, and the record of each sync.
  • •Drill and Recall history: Your Drill cards, their scheduling state, and every Drill outcome recorded against them.
  • •Off-prep records: Every position flagged where your game left your prep, and the Not Ready Yet report built from them.
  • •Readiness and ratings: Your Readiness Score inputs and your per-opening ratings.
  • •Progress: Your Get Ready Plan, streaks, XP and XP history, and achievements.
  • •Everything else tied to the account: Saved positions, your playing-style profile, your onboarding answers, push notification registrations, plan-change history, and all sign-in sessions.

This runs as a single operation. Either all of it is deleted or none of it is — the account is never left half-removed.

3. What we keep, and for how long

One thing survives the deletion, and we would rather state it here than let the list above imply otherwise.

  • •Billing records: If you ever paid for ChessReady, the records of those payments are kept. Paddle is the Merchant of Record for every purchase, and tax and accounting law require both Paddle and us to retain transaction records for a period set by that law, not by us — typically several years. When you delete your account, the link between those records and your account is severed, so they no longer identify you as a ChessReady user.
  • •Anonymised statistics: Aggregated figures that cannot be traced back to you may be retained, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Nothing else is kept. For the outer limit on any remaining copies, see Privacy Policy §6, Data retention.

4. If you have a paid subscription

Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription, and it does not by itself trigger a refund. Cancel the subscription first, then delete the account. You can cancel through the subscription management link in your Paddle receipt, or by writing to support@chessready.app.

While a paid subscription is active, your account cannot be deleted. Cancel the subscription first; once it is cancelled you can delete the account here, and you do not have to wait for the paid period to end.

Cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period you have already paid for. The full terms are in Terms of Service §4 and the Refund Policy.

5. If you can no longer sign in

If you have lost access to your account and cannot use the in-app control, write to support@chessready.app from the email address the account was registered with, and ask us to delete it.

We will ask you to confirm the request before we act on it — an emailed deletion request is irreversible in exactly the same way, and we would rather be certain the request came from you. We respond within 30 days.
