Terms of Service

Effective date: August 5, 2026

ChessReady · chessready.app · support@chessready.app

ChessReady is a trading name of Tamari Javakhishvili, an individual entrepreneur registered in Georgia.
Payments are collected by Paddle.com Market Ltd as Merchant of Record.

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of ChessReady (the “service”), operated at chessready.app and, when they become available, through the ChessReady iOS and Android applications. By using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. Acceptance

By creating an account, downloading the application, or otherwise using ChessReady, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you are using the service on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation.

2. Description of service

ChessReady is an opening-preparation diagnostic and spaced-repetition tool for serious chess players. The service:

  • Reads up to your last 30 games from Chess.com or Lichess and identifies where your preparation broke down.
  • Schedules targeted drills on those positions using a forgetting-curve algorithm.
  • Reports your readiness across the different lines of your repertoire.
  • Is available as a web application at chessready.app. iOS and Android applications, built on Capacitor, are coming soon and are not yet available on the App Store or Google Play. Nothing in these Terms should be read as an offer of the mobile applications until they are released.

3. Account registration

To use most features, you must register an account with a valid email address and a password. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to provide accurate information and to update it if it changes. We may suspend or terminate accounts that we reasonably believe were obtained or used in violation of these Terms.

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If the digital age of consent in your country is higher than 13, you must be at least that age. We do not collect a date of birth; by creating an account you confirm you meet this requirement. If we learn that an account belongs to someone below the applicable age, we will close it.

4. Subscription and payments

ChessReady offers a Free tier and a Pro tier.

Free tier. Two opening variations — one as White and one as Black. A variation means a named line such as the Sicilian Najdorf, together with its sub-variations. Play, position analysis, and the openings explorer are included at no cost. No payment method is required and no payment is taken.

Pro tier. $9.90 per month or $99 per year. Unlocks unlimited opening variations across your whole repertoire, with drills, exams and opening ratings across all of them, and building your own lines with the engine’s help.

Beta period. During the beta, new accounts receive full Pro access for one week at no cost. We do not ask for a payment method to start this period and we do not charge you when it ends. We will notify you before the period ends. When it ends, your account moves to the Free tier automatically. You are never charged unless you choose to subscribe and complete a checkout yourself.

What happens to your openings at the end of the beta period. You keep your first White variation and your first Black variation. You are offered one opportunity to change which two you keep. After that choice, the selection is fixed and cannot be changed on the Free tier. Any additional variations you built are locked, not deleted — your lines, drill history and progress are retained in full and become available again immediately if you subscribe to Pro.

Payment processing. Payments are processed by Paddle, who acts as our Merchant of Record. Paddle handles billing, tax compliance, and invoicing on our behalf, and is the seller of record for your purchase. By subscribing you also agree to Paddle's terms. Your card or bank statement will show a charge from Paddle rather than from ChessReady.

Renewal and cancellation. Paid subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You may cancel at any time through the subscription management link in your Paddle receipt, or by contacting us at support@chessready.app. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep Pro access until that period ends. When the iOS and Android applications are released, subscriptions purchased through the App Store or Google Play will be cancelled through those stores instead.

Price changes. We will give at least 30 days’ notice by email before any change to the price of an existing subscription. You may cancel before the change takes effect.

Refunds. See our Refund Policy below.

5. Refund Policy

Free trial. The beta period takes no payment method and results in no charge, so there is nothing to refund.

14-day withdrawal. If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, you have the right to withdraw from a purchase within 14 days of the transaction and receive a full refund. Where you have asked us to begin providing the service immediately, this right may be reduced in proportion to the service already supplied, to the extent permitted by law.

Outside the withdrawal period. We do not provide refunds for partial billing periods. If you cancel, you keep Pro access until the end of the period you have already paid for, and you are not charged again.

Duplicate or erroneous charges. If you were charged twice, or charged after cancelling, contact us and we will refund it in full.

How to request a refund. Because Paddle is the Merchant of Record for your purchase, refund requests are handled by Paddle. Use the link in your Paddle receipt, or contact us at support@chessready.app and we will raise it with Paddle on your behalf.

6. Acceptable use

You agree to use ChessReady for your own chess preparation. Each account is for one person, and you may not share your credentials or provide access to others.

Coaches, clubs, academies and other organisations. Use of ChessReady in the course of teaching, coaching, or training others requires our written permission. We welcome these arrangements — please contact us at support@chessready.app to discuss access for your students or members.

You may not resell, sublicense, or redistribute the service.

Specifically, you agree NOT to:

  • Scrape, mirror, or automate access to the service except through an official API where one is provided.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive source code from the application, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits despite this restriction.
  • Use the service to harass, abuse, or harm other users.
  • Use the service in any way that violates applicable law.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

7. Termination

You may close your account at any time from your account settings. When you do, your account and the data associated with it are deleted as described in our Privacy Policy. If you are on a paid plan, closing your account does not by itself trigger a refund — see the Refund Policy above.

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these Terms. Where the breach is not serious, we will contact you first and give you a reasonable opportunity to put it right.

8. Intellectual property

ChessReady owns the software, user interface, branding, design, and content of the service. You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the service in accordance with these Terms.

ChessReady incorporates third-party open-source software and data, each of which remains the property of its respective owners and is used under its own licence. A full list of these components and their licences is available on our Licences and Attribution page. Nothing in these Terms limits your rights under those licences.

Your game data — the chess moves you have played and the data you have generated through use of ChessReady — remains your own. You may request a copy of it by emailing support@chessready.app, and we will provide it within 30 days, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Chess opening theory, individual moves, and historical games are not the intellectual property of ChessReady. Opening theory is part of the public domain of chess knowledge.

9. Disclaimer

ChessReady is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We make no warranty that the service will improve your chess rating, your tournament results, or any other measure of chess performance. Chess is a complex skill — ChessReady is a preparation tool, not a guarantee of outcomes.

Consistent with our public statements: the service does not provide live hints or engine analysis during games. All engine work happens after games have finished. Using any live-assist tool during a competitive game would be cheating and is contrary to the purpose for which we built this service.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ChessReady will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profit, or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the service. Our total aggregate liability is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) USD 50.

Some jurisdictions do not allow exclusion or limitation of certain damages. In those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the service develops or as the law requires. Each version carries an effective date at the top of this page. For changes that materially affect your rights, we will notify registered users by email at least 14 days before the new version takes effect. Continuing to use ChessReady after that date means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not accept them, you may close your account, and we will refund the unused portion of any current paid period as an exception to the Refund Policy above.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Georgia (the country), without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service will be brought exclusively in the courts of Tbilisi, Georgia, except where mandatory consumer-protection rules in your country of residence grant you the right to bring proceedings in your local courts.
